This week I had a lot of fun putting together material for the show… Pianoforte is celebrating the Fourth of July with an American pianist who could set off fireworks with his wardrobe alone: Liberace!  Join host Jules Brandon for the show this Wednesday night and hear this celebrated entertainer perform works by Chopin and Gershwin, along with some American folk classics. Tune in Wednesday night at 9pm, right here on KMFA.

Here’s a video preview of Liberace playing Felix Arndt’s “Nola.”

Liberace is why I listen to classical music today. Listening to my grandmothers Liberace records as a child introduced me to the world of classical piano. He was among the most talented pianist of his day and it’s nice to have a classical radio station give him some of the credit he is due. Thank you for the wonderful hour of his music on the fourth of July.
