From the General Manager – “Listen Local”
“Eat Local” has become a way of life for many communities. What’s more beautiful than the abundance of locally produced fruits and veggies at Austin’s wonderful farmer’s markets? Knowing the food has been cultivated right here in our region makes everything taste exquisite.
This fall, you will find the same kind of abundance in the Austin arts season – an overflowing of the creativity that makes this such a special place to live. At KMFA, we are encouraging everyone to take part in this abundance with the theme of our fall programs: Listen Local. We’ll be spotlighting area arts groups on our weekly programs like Choral Classics, Classical Austin, Ancient Voices, and Pianoforte. And our fall pledge drive, September 24 – October 3, will bring you many voices from around the local arts community as we invite your ongoing support of Classical 89.5, where you can tune in and Listen Local each and every day of the year.
Like the amazing produce you find at the farmer’s market, the music and programs you hear on KMFA are developed right here in Austin. We give careful thought to what ‘s on the musical menu each day – from meat-and-potatoes of the repertoire to the spicy variations and untried specialties that keep things (we hope) interesting. It’s an unending feast that’s made possible thanks to your committed support of Classical 89.5. Enjoy!
